Additionally, the soil purification method is based on two main technologies: the "soil cover method," which involves covering conventional wastewater treatment systems such as sewers and village drainage with soil, and the "capillary infiltration trench method," which directly channels wastewater and sludge into the soil to maximize the capabilities of the soil zone. In other words, the term soil purification method is widely used as a general term for these techniques, and even within the same soil cover method, there are many facilities that combine not only the Niimi system but also standard activated sludge methods and long aeration methods.
